Our client manufactures snow plows and utility trailers for the consumer market.
They sell their products through small dealer networks as well as large retail chains across Canada and the United States.
This particular trailer suits the needs of independent contractors who travel with their tools between jobsites.
A prototype trailer was created by our client to facilitate a growing industry of independent contractors. The requirement was for a trailer that could function as an open bed trailer but also have the ability to lock its contents.
We reverse engineered our client’s prototype and created a design that was better suited for mass production. Along the way we improved several features to suit our client’s wish list. Through several design iterations, we ended up with an award winning design. In addition, we helped with weld and assembly fixture designs, electrical diagrams, shipping crate designs and marketing material.
This trailer has won awards for innovation including the 2011 Popular Mechanics Editor’s Choice Award at the annual SEMA show in Las Vegas. It was voted one of 25 most innovative new products. It also won the 2011 Retailer’s Choice Award at the National Hardware Show in Las Vegas.
